It's been said since the dawn of time that there's no replacement for displacement – today we take a look at this adage by comparing several engine displacements to see just how big the difference is when going big cubes. This test was done using Pontiac engine – namely the Pontiac 350, Pontiac 400, Pontiac 428, and the Pontiac 455. The parts list can be found below as well as the stats from each engine. Parts List

• Summit 2802 Cam
• 1 ¾” Headers w/ 30” Primaries
• 92 Octane

Pontiac 350
– 8.35 Compression Ratio
– 359hp @ 5,500RPM
– 373ft-lbs @ 4,500RPM
– 263 avg horsepower from 2,000-6,500rpm
– 327 avg ft-lbs from 2,000-6,500rpm
Pontiac 400
– 9.02 Compression Ratio
– 387hp @ 5,000 RPM
– 434ft-lbs @ 4,000RPM
– 288 avg horsepower from 2,000-6,500rpm
– 369 avg ft-lbs from 2,000-6,500rpm
Pontiac 428
– 9.72 Compression Ratio
– 391hp @ 4,500RPM
– 470ft-lbs @ 4,000 RPM
– 292 avg horsepower from 2,000-6,500rpm
